These trees resemble a eucalypt in appearance but the large green leaves and flowers are distinctive. It has the largest trunk diameter of most rainforest trees. The showy flowers have showy white petals. Fruit is bell-shaped with three valves.

A large, deep purple-red fruit. Flesh is deep crimson in colour, juicy and of a delicious vinous flavour. Seeds not very hard. Good for juicing and eating out of hand. Plant is vigorous and productive. Best commercial variety in California.

Giant Lau Lau

The stunning fruit is bright red and crisp apple like flavour, although some can be a little insipid.  If you have some space in a frost free garden this tree will be a treasure. Even though tropical it grows and fruits well in the North Coast NSW. With adequate water it grows at a rapid rate reaching up to 6-7m.  Not suitable for temperate climates.
