Most common variety grown due to its excellent quality fruit. This selection is seed grown from selected quality fruit. Bowens are naturally polyembryonic hence are virtually true to type from seed. Cropping begins in 3-4years, with identical fruit quality to grafted trees.

Definitely the winner in the taste department. The soft sweet flesh melts in your mouth. The fruit has a small seed and virtually no fibre. Considered by some to be too small for the market it certainly makes up for its lack of size with taste. Yellow skinned, excellent quality fruits. Sets well in subtropics. The oldest and most popular navel grown in Australia. Has excellent skin colour and taste, and usually produces round fruit. Is inclined to drop fruit and split in some climates.

This European chestnut produces large sweet nuts, the kind found sold in fruit markets. Seedlings are relatively quick to bear and are generally more hardy and quick growing than Grafted trees.
