A very handsome evergreen, reaching a height of 8 - 15 metres and bearing the worlds largest fruit. Fruits can weigh up to 20kg. Strong odour but is deliciously sweet. It can be eaten fresh or dried.

The fruit is heart-shaped with a rough green skin and soft fleshy spines. The fresh meaty flesh is juicy and slightly acid producing a rich creamy thirst quenching juice. Superb when fruit is pureed with 1/3 of vanilla icecream. Also known as Graviola or Guanaban. Not suitable for temperate climates.

Ginger like plant growing in clumps, makes an excellent low screen adding a tropical feel to any garden. The seeds don't resemble true cardamon, the leaves can be used in desserts, to add flavour when steaming rice or used to wrap fish.
