The stunning fruit is bright red and crisp apple like flavour, although some can be a little insipid. If you have some space in a frost free garden this tree will be a treasure. Even though tropical it grows and fruits well in the North Coast NSW. With adequate water it grows at a rapid rate reaching up to 6-7m. Not suitable for temperate climates.
Popularity: 1 Grapefruit - Rio Red
The Rio Red has less colour than Star Ruby and the colour of fruit on individual trees can vary considerably. Needs to be harvested soon after maturity.

This small fig occurs along watercourses along the east coast of Australia. An attractive small tree with sandpapery leaves and edible fruit. Grows densely in full sun, less so in shade. Very good for stream bank stablilisation.

An attractive large pine tree that bears cones of edible nuts considered a delicacy. Trees can be expected to start producing cones from about year 6. Each cone holds about 50 nuts and 100 kg of cones holds about 20 kg of nuts. Grows best in dry cold areas.
