This is the tallest of the native pines and it is quite capable of reaching heights of more than 40 meters making it an impressive addition to my garden. It is a wonderful bird-attracting tree, as they love to nest in its protective prickly foliage and is an excellent host for lots of native orchid species.

Medium sized tree with scaly bark. Round fruits are cream tinged with pink that split into 3 or 4 segments when ripe. Excellent cabinet timber.

Microcitrus australasica - Finger lime
A delicate rainforest tree that naturally occurs as an understorey tree in SE Queensland and Northern NSW . The fruits can be green and cylindrical in shape, up to 100mm long and only about 20-30mm in diameter. They have a thin skin that ranges in colour from green, yellow, red, purple to even a black. The inner cells are cylindrical balls filled with lime juice.

An attractive tree with dark glossy leaves and a dense crown. As a name suggests it prefers wet areas in rainforests such as creekbanks. Water Gum provides food for the blue triangle butterfly. Fruiting occurs in Autumn.
