There is much variation between types of Plum from the Gulf varieties with there excellent full dark red colour to the Mariposa dark blood plum and our very own Barlows plum also known as the 'Kyogle Plum. Cross pollination is required on most types.

Plum - Yarrahapinni Blood

Medium sized self pollinating blood plum that requires approximately 450 hours of chill. It is very ornamental with deep red leaves, and has beautiful pink flowers in spring. Bears around late December.

Dwarf Plum Gulf Gold Tree (G)

This golden plum is firm with excellent flavour & texture and a small seed. 350 hours chill. This dwarf plum is an ideal backyard variety and perfect for pots. An excellent all-round variety with the added bonus that it doesn't seem to be attractive to fruit fly as much as other stonefruit. Partially self pollinating but benefits from pollination with Gulf Ruby. Attractive in spring when it is smothered in white blossoms.

A Japanese-style plum with excellent orange flesh, burgundy skin and very sweet flavour. A low chill selection that is well suited to subtropical climates. Pollinate with a Dwarf Gulf Gold or a Gulf Ruby for a bumper crop. Prolific white spring bloom.

Plum - Satsuma

Red to purple flesh with a freestone. The flavour is good, the growth vigorous and its bears particularly well, in fact to get large fruits it may require thinning. The firm, juicy flesh has a sweet spicy flavour. 350 - 400 hours chill. Bears November to early December.

Green Gage is a European type plum with small-medium sized, roundish fruit with greenish-yellow skin. Flesh is amber-yellow coloured, firm, freestone. Good, sweet flavour. Tends to bear biannually. A favourite for cooking, canning and desserts. Ripens in late summer. Mid-season blooming. Forms relatively small tree. High chill.

Plumcott - Flavour Supreme

A Fleming's quality introduction. Pluot; 'Flavour Supreme' interspecific plum (meaning plum/apricot hybrid) is one of a new generation of traditionally bred plums with a bright, very sweet flavour. 'Flavour Supreme' does not have the tart aftertaste of many plums; this has been replaced with the aroma of the apricot that forms part of its parentage. Pluot interspecific plums are as easy to grow as any regular plum. Suitable pollinizer: 'Mariposa'.

Purple coloured oval-shaped fruit. Very sweet yellow flesh with a freestone. A prolific bearer, dAgen is excellent for fresh fruit and drying. Fruit should be fully mature to ensure maximum sugar content. Pollination, other prune cultivars or Coe's Golden Drop, Green Gage plums. High Chill.

Plum - Myrobalan H29C

Excellent, all-around rootstock for apricots, plums, almonds. Shallow but vigorous root system tolerates wet soils and is widely adapted; is more deeply rooted than Marianna. Resistant to root-knot nematodes and has some resistance.

Plum - Santa Rosa

Large, first quality fruit, purplish-crimson in colour with a pale blue bloom. Flesh yellow, with a red blush coming from just below the skin. Mildly sweet, with some tartness near skin and stone. Good bearer, considered to be one of the best plums.

Spring Satin is a cross between an apricot and a plum. Fruits are large with reddish black skin and golden red flesh, they are firm and very sweet, simply delicious! Beautiful blossoms in spring, fruit ripens December. Productive, vigorous tree grows to approximately 4m at maturity. Partially self fertile but benefits from pollination with other plums and apricots the Santa Rosa is a good choice or any of the Japanese plums.
