Pre Purchase Fruit Trees

For the first time you can pre purchase a fruit tree with your credit card. So if there is a fruit tree on this list that you do not want to miss out on then you can reserve the fruit tree via pre purchase.
As a general rule you should receive the fruit trees within 6 months usually much earlier and at this stage you will be given the option to add other fruit trees that are also in stock at this time.

Caution on Wish Lists or Multiple Fruit Trees not in Stock
Pre purchase works well for one fruit tree not in stock. If you are after lots of fruit trees not in stock then pre purchase may not be for you because we can't guarantee that all of these fruit trees will be in stock at the same time.

Reduced Freight & Handling - The Story So Far

=========
What's New: After you place an order with daleys you now have the ability change your order 24 hours a day online until we send it.
Reduced Freight for North QLD Customers eg Townsville, Cairns etc we have been able save your freight costs by 35% with one of our freight couriers.
===========

One of the most frequent suggestions we get as a nursery who sends fruit trees all across Australia is "We love your plants and the way they get to us safe and sound but the freight and handling costs are too expensive when I am just ordering a few plants"

Firstly we would like to say Yes we have taken note and here are 2 decisions we made to reduce this cost to you.

1. Reduced Freight Costs: We designed 2 new boxes a small and a medium box which is lighter weight and less volume
2. Reduced Handling Costs

We use to have a $12 Handling fee for all fruit tree orders under $100 and FREE for orders over $100 because of the following jobs and material costs.

- Daleys sends paper catalogues out to customer addresses.
- Daleys answer Phone/Fax enquiries about fruit trees.
- Daleys Phone/Fax Customers back when fruit trees are ready for sale.
- Daleys calculate and Quote Freight costs
- Daleys Phone/Fax changes to order after it is placed. (Not all orders)
- Daleys Check all plants for quality
- Daleys Pack plants + Packing material costs.
- Daleys prepare paperwork for freight companies
- Daleys answer follow up enquiries and give growing advice.

But recently we have reduced the handling fee to $4.50 for orders fitting in our small box and $6 for orders fitting in our medium box and FREE for orders over $100 and the reason is because most of our customers (like yourself as you are reading our blog) prefer to order online which means the process above now looks like this:

- Customer finds plants they like on the web.
- Customer inputs their email and mobile number to be notified when plants are ready.
- Customer places order and knows freight.
- Customer makes modifications after order is placed. ( NEW )
- Daleys Check all plants for quality
- Daleys Pack plants + Packing material costs.
- Daleys auto Lodge Freight paperwork
- Customer asks question on Daleys Fruit Tree Forum for best growing methods in their area.
- Daleys Sends customer Gift Voucher after 3 months and asks customers to give us feedback.

Below is our video on how we pack our plants

Production and Propogation Material

With over a thousand different varieties of fruit trees and rainforest plants we can't have them all ready for sale at once. So if you search for a plant not in stock it will now say either In Production or Seeking Propagation Material. Please remember to click the button email me when available and also remember to put your mobile number down so we can notify you when the plant you want is ready for sale.

In Production

Simply put a plant in production is growing at Daleys Nursery and should be ready for sale once it reaches a certain size and health. Depending on the type of plant "In production" may mean this plant has recently been grafted, planted or potted up by a Staff Member.

Seeking Propagation Material

We don't have this plant growing in the Nursery but may be sourcing seeds or cuttings to be able to grow them at a later date. If you can help us get the right propagation material we would love for you to contact us.

Freight Prices Decrease for Smaller Orders

Daleys has been given lots of constructive critisism on the cost of freighting one or two plants being too expensive.

We listened and now have a small box which takes up less room in the truck and therefore costs you less in freight.

Price Comparison of sending 1 or 2 fruit trees in 2007 using the Large box to now (2008) using the small box.
Sydney & Brisbane - Now costs $24.47 Was $42.94 Save $18.47
Melbourne - Now costs $30.68 Was $55.36 Save $19.68

To find out the exact price for your suburb just enter your postcode after you add some plants to the shopping cart.

Minimum Quantities For Forestry Tubestock

We recently sent plants to Graham who gave us some great feedback on our forestry tubestock

Daleys service and plant quality was excellent, although i was little disappointed in not being able to buy tubestock in smaller than minimum quantities available. all the best for Christmas and the new year. regards Graham Banks, BOYNE ISLAND QLD AUSTRALIA (16th Dec 2007)

As our packing techniques are getting better we are able to handle these smaller fiddly quantities more efficiently. And we reduced it from a minimum tubestock amount of 7 down to 5 and today we have decreased it down to a minimum of 4. Our new boxes are also designed to accommodate these smaller quantities.

New Thornless Blackberry

We would like to welcome a new Berry to our collection called the Thornless Blackberry. Our variety is: "Blackberry - Thornless Chester" One of it's best points is that in it's second season it is possible to get a bumper crop.

You can eat this berry when it turns black fresh off the vine or concoct a tart. I haven't tasted it myself but it is only a matter of time as I am a berry fan.

This spring I have noticed that berries such as blueberries and raspberries are also very popular among fruit enthusiasts.

I guess competing with bats, possums, birds and your family to eat these berries fresh from your orchard is worth it.

We have 40 coming of the new Blackberry - Thornless Chester so it will be interesting to see how this new American berry perform here in Australia.

Western Australia - Mail Order Fruit Trees

Daleys Fruit Tree Nursery will now mail order to Western Australia.

To satisfy your quarantine requirements all the plants need to be sprayed and a member of the DPI is required to check all the plants for pests. Therefore there is an extra charge called "Spraying, Packing and Quarantine" which starts at $25 per order and increases depending on the number of fruit trees you order.

To find out exactly how much it will cost to send to your address simply add the fruit trees you want and enter your postcode. All the costs are displayed for you online.

Orders to W.A will be sent every 2nd month or perhaps more frequently depending on the number of orders we receive.
