Angel Peach - How to Manage Fruit Fly

    3 responses

Dan-GC starts with ...
Hi, I have an Angel Peach tree that's approx. 5 Years old. It's healthy and bears fruit which unfortunately gets attacked by fruitfly. I've purchased an ECO - NATURALURE - MALE FRUIT FLY TRAP and have put it on the tree. The issue is, I'm a bit confused as to what to do next. Once the male fruit flys are trapped do I then need to spray the tree with something?

It would be great to hear from someone who may have had the same issue and has found an effective solution. The tree is subtropical and I'm in Currumbin, Southern QLD.

Thanks in advance for the help!
Dan

Individually bagging is the best solution for my 3 peaches & 2 nectarines & a spicezee so far.
This year am trying exclusion netting over frames, keeping trees to 2.5m.
Have used lures before, with mixed success.

You can find organza bags on ebay for that purpose, bigger size than the fruit is recommended.
Don't wait too long to do it, I initially bag them at marble size.
