Plejaren starts with ... I've read that asparagus must be 3 years old and then it will produce thereafter. Do you sell 3 year old plants - does anyone? I live in Sydney. I'm new to gardening and would love to buy some plants already producing (I need asparagus for health diet I must be on) I'm looking for heirloom of course no GMO. Thank you if you can help :) | About the Author Plejaren sydney N.S.W. (state) 23rd January 2016 2:29am #UserID: 13142 Posts: 2 View All Plejaren's Edible Fruit Trees |
jakfruit etiquette says... Asparagus can be grown from crowns ie clumps of roots or seed. The 3 year thing is about not harvesting the establishing plants too early and exhausting their growth before they get going for the long term. You could harvest spears earlier, but you will not establish good plants that produce well next year. You should be able to track down seed or crowns fairly easily. (ie internet search) Crowns will get your patch going faster, seed is less expensive. | About the Author jakfruit etiquette vic 24th January 2016 8:47am #UserID: 5133 Posts: 915 View All jakfruit etiquette's Edible Fruit Trees |

Plejaren says... Thank you, that's just the best advice and clears things up for me :) I haven't written on a forum before- new to this but look at the fantastic advice I got from doing so. Thank you...whenever I have a question about my gardening I'll sure write in for wonderful advice- it's scary being new to something and not knowing where to start yet needing to start immediately in order to grow food for my family to escape the poisons they're putting in everything today. Very appreciated advice. I found a place to buy the crowns ;) | About the Author Plejaren sydney N.S.W.
