Question... Types A and B.. Do both A and B types of trees need to be flowering during the same months to be effective..? My logic says 'Yes' Is this so?

you answered your question - well done KW

Although you will get some pollination from only having an A but will improve your pollination set if a B is nearby and the bonus is a wonderful tasting B avocado ---- Bacon is a B and tastes fantastic if picked mid winter

The significance of cross-pollination for avocadoes is very exaggerated. It's only necessary if you live in a very warm climate. One type is just fine, and A-types are more self-fertile.
Specifically regarding your question, Yes.

Thanks Mark and tommoz...
I have looked at varieties in Daley tropical catalogue and most A and B avo's don't overlap in their harvest months.. which suggests the flowerings are not synchronized.

I will have to work on that more as it approaches time for me to buy them.

KW -- Ripening times are no indication of flowering times as are whenever they feel like it and receptivenes accordingly too - thats why they flower over a long period of time - maybe 2 months or more from start to finish - last year my Reed came into flower much earlier than usual next to a Bacon and have 8 lovely REED Avos getting bigger by the week.
