Bangkok says... Yes sir, i love those but they are very small and not cheap. They are very sweet and very crispy, i even grow them and they cut my legs all the time. But i grow them for more then 2 years now (out of a pineapple-head) and they still didn't fruit. My wife told me many times to cull them and i'm about to do it. But looking at your pics, mine have much longer and more leaves... I planted several heads also of a little bigger ones, maybe only the bigger ones are growing and not those mini apples. Then i sure will cull them today. But they are being sold almost all year at our market, a girl is always peeling them to sell. | About the Author Bangkok thailand 26th August 2015 10:31am #UserID: 11594 Posts: 370 View All Bangkok's Edible Fruit Trees |

Bangkok says... Today at the or-tor-kor market they sold these small ones but they were red. vely special sir, and very expensive too. 150 baht for 1 as small as a tennisball so i didn't buy it but if you want something special that you need those. Don't know if they are red inside. About the size after they are peeled, the skin is just like a normal pineapple so you loose about 1 cm of skin. Not sure if the one i bought is the same as the one you showed sternus but sure i we have them on the market. Man i just got the boom at the gate on my helmet, the thing suddenly came down while i passed it...This is Thailand. Durian laplae is sold out, season is over. http://www.google.co.th/search?q=red+pineapple&es_sm=122&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CB8QsARqFQoTCIbWqsmRxscCFUdNjgodJEQGCQ&biw=1366&bih=643#imgrc=-2xHuCqLRvjRpM%3A There are many red pineapples i see now, well they arrived here as well. | About the Author Bangkok thailand 26th August 2015 4:42pm #UserID: 11594 Posts: 370 View All Bangkok's Edible Fruit Trees |

Bangkok says... Yes but the or-tor-kor market is very expensive, only 1 stand had them. If those red ones are nice then sure they will be all over the markets soon. The mini yellow ones are worth the money, they are very different then the big juicy ones, they are not juicy and more like an apple/carrot for crispness and very sweet. You'll have something special if they do arrive. I asked which variety the small ones at or-tor-kor were and they said sri racha which is next to pattaya not far from bangkok. Chang rai is next to Chang mai in north thailand but pu-lea is the name for those mini ones. I still wonder why those small ones are expensive compared to other good big pineapples, maybe they are hard to grow or come from far away. | About the Author Bangkok thailand 26th August 2015 5:10pm #UserID: 11594 Posts: 370 View All Bangkok's Edible Fruit Trees |
Bangkok says... A thai treeseller showed me a pic of a special taiwanese pineapple. It was cut in half over the length and then you could pick the pieces of it out and bite the flesh out of the skin. It looked like those pieces were very loose and came easy of together with skin. Not sure if he was growing them or just wanted to show me. | About the Author Bangkok thailand 28th August 2015 12:38am #UserID: 11594 Posts: 370 View All Bangkok's Edible Fruit Trees |
