Biew kiew or Chompo longan?

I am torn between biew kiew and chompo, which variety to buy? I am leaning toward biew kiew because of production but according to Daley biew kiew is more sensitive than Chompo, ie very sensitive vs sensitive. Any one with real experiences on the above varieties? Thanks

Chompoo is better than view Kiew anyway. Fruit are larger. I have both and they both grow at the same rate. They're both thai varieties anyway so doubt there's realistically any difference in cold tolerance. Kohala would be tougher than either is my guess.

So you did not notice any difference on frost tolerances in winter? I already got the Kohala, seedling though. Is longan true to type?

Nope, they are for all intents and purposes identical in cold tolerance. That is my experience over 3 years. I am however growing them in Queensland, so perhaps if there is a difference it would never be appreciable to me anyway. Again, they're both from Thailand. Longan grow reasonably true I believe, certainly seedlings are much more vigorous than grafted trees. I think sapote are a bigger gamble especially black sapote which may never fruit from seed.

Are these flowers???

I've got these things that look like flowers on a Biew Kiew Longan that I've had for only 6 months so would have thought that it was too soon for it to be flowering yet. I have no idea what Longan flowers are supposed to look like as I've never had one flower before and the Kohalas I had previously always died. So it seems like Biew Kiew might be more hardy as well as more prolific. Thanks.
