I have a black sapote and it has beautiful foliage and looks great. It does form lots of flowers, but they eventually fall off,the flowers have petals and a bulb at the base,a tiny hole so a insect must be very small to pollinate the flower, bees certainly cant get in there any ideas?

Graham, mostly black sapotes are self pollinating but sometimes they will not accept their own pollen and will require cross pollination, this may be why your flowers do not set. You could try introducing another tree to help pollinate the one you have.
