Black sapote

GDJ starts with ...
I just tried a black sapote for the very first time and it was not a pleasant experience , can anyone tell me why? I picked the fruit up off the ground and it was soft so I was thinking this must be ready to eat. Much to my surprise it tasted like eating a chili felt like it burnt the roof of my mouth and left an unpleasant taste could hardly eat much. What the heck! everyone raves about it like eating chocolate pudding Well I like chocolate and I like pudding but that was Yuck! Whats the deal?

Hi GDJ, Timing is everything when it comes to Black Sapotes. They ripen similar to an avocado and can go off in a similar way as well.
