Could anybody identify this tree for me? We have 2 in our rental garden and it looks like blackberries but small and no thorns. Is it ok to cook the berries and eat?

Hi Jody, this is a mulberry tree, yes the fruit will be safe to eat, they are great straight off the tree or in jams or pies. Yum. It does look like it has a pest doing some damage to the leaves, this may be mites, have a close look at the leaves to see if there are any noticeable pest insects.

There were some tiny tiny bugs on the fruit that I have washed off. Almost like what we used to call thunder bugs in the UK. I'll get something to treat it from the garden centre next time i go. Thanks so much for your help.
