Even the old ways, of looking skyward, don't seem to be helpful.
Its going to be a long dry summer.

They now just say 30% chance of rain. So they cant technically get it wrong. It seems the only sure thing is when the prediction is for 95% chance of rain. Even when it is raining the prediction is never at 100%. Today is still an 80% chance and the southern low is looking promising, pushing some massive black patches up over the border on the radar. The past week the northern low has made plenty of isolated rain and storms in a line from the south burnet (very isolated storms) through Beaudesert and down NNSW. They just run out of puff when they hit the dams and evaporate. A few nights ago I could smell the rain out west as if it were raining on my roof.

Severe thunderstorm warnings for the south side of town, so hopefully something hits the north-west. Its my day to run up the mountain on the way home from work, so I'd better make it quick!

Yeah, on second look, its moving much quicker than I thought and If I'm up there for 45mins I'd be pushing my luck, and luck pushing in open Eucalypt forest on a good 30-45 degree slope in a thunderstorm is probably not worth the health benefit.

A person got squashed by a falling tree outside my work. Hope they are okay. softball sized hail and trees splintered like toothpicks. Apparently at home there was hardly a drop of rain. Supposed to be a second round coming. Very happy I shelved plans to go for a run.

Yep, you dodged a bullet big time on this one BJ.Nothing much out my way, fizzer--not even much rain. Lot of places have been smashed badly though apparently. My poor girlfriend manages a childcare center near wooloongabba and has a had very rough time of it with the kids.

Briz looked like it copped it on the news.I saw the cross to parliament house and the hail was huge.
Bom forecasters got is wrong here 10 days in a row and caved in and said fine yesterday.8mm last night which is the biggest rain event since May and triples the rain of the last couple of months.Cairns is drier than I ever remember it with everything brown and scorched crunchy grass.

Good ole BOM has been telling us for the last 3 weeks we'd be getting showers plus the possibility of a storm?! I think we've had 1mm! Grr! Like Mike in Cairns, lawn is like cornflakes here.
Some avocado trees are suffering real bad! :-(
