Bought a jackfruit for the first time last Friday and it was hard but the skin was giving way to pressure today so I cut it open. Completely white and unripe. Did I screw up or the grocers? I read that jackfruit does not ripen off the tree.
I'm thinking I might be able to eat the seeds boiled+salted and give the skin to the goat up the road...

It depends if you bought the ones for eating or cooking .The ones for cooking will be white and hard with little flesh . The ones for eating should be really plump and full of aroma .

Well the sign just said jackfruit, was the usual green on the outside and all white on the inside. Didn't have an aroma.
