Jon33017 starts with ... Hi everyone, I am trying to identify which trees are these? The first seems to be a kind of conifer, but I would like to know which specifically. The second drops some big seeds and has some red flowers in autumn. Both are planted very close to our house and I am concerned about root damage to our foundation. Especially the conifer trees, because I know (thanks to google street view), they were planted in 2008/2009, so are quite recent. Thank you in advance for all your help!

Manfred says... Come on folx- help Jon out- there must be someone out there who knows his/her Cupressaceae and someone who knows his/her brachychitons. It isn't me. If I was pressed to guess about the brachychiton I might suggest (tentatively, for fear of ridicule) rupestris (queensland bottle tree), just from the placement of the seeds, but I really don't know how they would look in a well-watered garden. As for the Cypress, I did look at some pressings I did for TAFE for comparisons but they aren't distinctive - they all look the same to me - but someone out there....? | About the Author Manfred tully 31st January 2016 10:19pm #UserID: 9565 Posts: 243 View All Manfred's Edible Fruit Trees |
