I have a young Lapin cherry tree which has been shedding a number of its leaves in the last month. However, in the past week a number of new buds and cherry blossoms (!) are opening up. Is this normal behaviour so late in the season?

Have a double grafted tree myself, can't remember which is the Lapins graft but one of the branches has a few blossoms - it's probably the Lapins. It's probably just a feature of the cultivar, they're known for oversetting too.
