scott starts with ...
hi i am very new to gardening ect and i am keen to plant some fruit trees on my land here in batemans bay nsw , it is a very hard clay sorta ground i can dig it al up and put nice soil in, though i would like to know what sought of trees will fruit at the same time of the year and grow to the same size roughly and be suitable to the climate we live in. we are 3 hours south of sydney. any help would be apreciated.

Hello Scott, you will need to do a lot of work on that heavy hard clay of yours as fruit tree will not like it and will not thrive in soil like this. I would think you will need to add lots of organic matter to the soil and mound you planting sites. When choosing what you want to grow the best starting point is with what you like to eat. Make a list of these and then work out if they are suitable to your climate and your soil. Map you planting site, do you have overhead power lines or underground pipes and lines that will need to be avoided, it is important to have a clear idea of where things will fit before you begin.
