au0rey starts with ... Hi all, I have two conifers on my property which are newly planted. I have seen some neighbour's trees looking like this (in pic). Just curious what had happened to them turning all dry and brown....will it be under or over-watering? Some people say it is the former while some say it is the latter...Thanks!

Peter says... No, there isn't. This canker has not been known to Australia until recent years. All we can do now against it is prevention. Look for cypress species, cultivars or cypress like species more resistant to the disease or choose completely different plants not related to them. In general, plants growing under good conditions with appropriate amount of water and nutrients, drainage, PH etc are less likely to give in to fungal attacks. | About the Author Peter Perth 19th April 2011 9:02am #UserID: 5034 |
