Rebecca starts with ... Hi, Wanting to get a variety of apple trees suitable to cordon. I live in Adelaide and unsure which chill factor apples would be good and also cross pollination. Also have read that spur-bearing varieties are best for this kind of growth. Anyone with some experience, feedback or comments is greatly appreciated. | About the Author Rebecca Marino 14th February 2015 4:13pm #UserID: 11123 Posts: 6 View All Rebecca's Edible Fruit Trees |

Correy says... Since you are Adelaide you can likely get away with some higher chill apples. Daleys Nursery sells these these once a year through our Bare Root Fruit Tree catalogue here that can be purchased and reserved now and shipped in Winter. http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/bare-root-fruit-trees.php Most of the time these bare root plants sell out so good to get in early. In relation to cross pollination most will with the granny smith due to the timing of it's flowers. For example the dwarf red delicious here: http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/buy/dwarf-apple-red-delicious-tree.htm You would need the granny smith here: http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/buy/dwarf-apple-granny-smith-tree.htm On this page for the Pink Lady http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/buy/apple-pink-lady-tree.htm It will tell you the pollinators. The Pinkabelle was only recently released and has proven to be very popular here: http://www.daleysfruit.com.au/buy/dwarf-apple-pinkabelle-tree.htm
