JohnMc1 says... It should be flowering at 5 years, sometimes they are in flower on delivery from the nursery. Might be climate related? The way to get flowers forming is to remove all the mature leaves from the tree, strip it bare, and give it a prune. The new growth will be a mix of leaves and fruit buds. | About the Author JohnMc1 Warnervale NSW 16th November 2014 7:52am #UserID: 2743 Posts: 2043 View All JohnMc1's Edible Fruit Trees |

denise1 says... The following is what I have done successfully with cherimoyer. Cut off the end of twigs including about 2 leaves. Then remove 2 or 3 leaves in the middle of the stem. If you dont have a pollenating insect you could introduce it or pollenate by hand. The reason is that it can only put out new buds when a leaf is off. I dont know how it compares with atemoya. In NZ the pollenating is believed to be done by a native flower thrips. It is so small it is barely visible but chomps away inside the flower then hops to a new flower with some pollen to spread. I havent seen any other insect on the flowers though havent looked at night. | About the Author denise1 auckland NZ 16th November 2014 8:10am #UserID: 6832 Posts: 688 View All denise1's Edible Fruit Trees |
