I am interested in growing dates, but are unsure if they would grow in Mudgee, we have temperatures down to about -6 deg C up to about occasional 45 usually about 38dec C, where I would like to grown them is alluvial deep soil. If dates are unsuitable can you give me ideas for fruit/nut trees that may be suitable.
Thanks heaps

Don't think those temps will be a problem, they grow ok in Mildura,(+/- same temps) and commercially in central Australia where temps could be a bit lower and a bit higher at times.
Mudgee's rainfall pattern could be a problem, perhaps more summer rain than the above two areas???, may affect fruit quality?
Maybe you can investigate seasonal requirements, and choose suitable varieties?
