trikus says... There is a third type, less commonly available, the pollination-variant non-astringent persimmons. When fully pollinated, the flesh of these fruit is brown inside -known as goma in Japan, and the fruit can be eaten firm. These varieties are highly sought after and can be found at specialty markets or farmers markets only[citation needed]. Tsurunoko, sold as "Chocolate persimmon" for its dark brown flesh, Maru, sold as "Cinnamon persimmon" for its spicy flavor, and Hyakume, sold as "Brown sugar" are the three best known. from wiki | About the Author Trikus Tully 21st October 2010 8:31am #UserID: 930 Posts: 749 View All Trikus's Edible Fruit Trees |

jakfruit etiquette says... Dai Dai Maru was used as one of the pollinators in a Kaki orchard near here, so has male flowers, and bears plenty of fruit, Hyakume was the other pollinator if I remember right ?? DDM had med size top shape/round fruit that tended to dry dark on the tree, Hyakume had bigger fruit. Orchard is gone now. | About the Author jakfruit etiquette vic 20th June 2014 9:40am #UserID: 5133 Posts: 915 View All jakfruit etiquette's Edible Fruit Trees |
