traceyking651 starts with ... My persimmon (planted about 4 months ago) has lost all of it's leaves. It never really took off and a few weeks back the leaves started going brown.... I was away for 2 weeks and upon arriving home, there were no leaves just a dead looking stalk. It is being reticulated so I think it is getting enough water. Maybe it's getting too much water. I'm so confused by what I'm reading on Internet, difficult to tell the difference between the two polar opposites when looking at symptoms. I've read magnesium deficiency could be an issue but without any leaves to read, I have no idea how to proceed. Can anyone help? | About the Author traceyking651 BROADBEACH WATERS,4218,QLD 25th January 2016 5:49pm #UserID: 11727 Posts: 1 View All traceyking651's Edible Fruit Trees |

maxzoo says... Hi, I have the same persimmon and it is a really sad looking tree, mine has been in the ground over a year and it barely sprouted any leaves this year and right now it looks like they are starting to turn and fall off too. Maybe just an early start to autumn leaf drop? i am hoping. They are painfully slow trees if the nutrition isn't right at the beginning of spring. I am hoping next year it will be perkier. If you scratch the bark and see its still green then its not dead..just resting i hope. I read that they don't mind a bit of dryness...I too am also trying to figure out how to get all my persimmons to grow well. I also have a Fuyu that is worse looking then my ichikikijiro. My astringent types are doing much better then the non astringent.. maybe its our warm climate up north and the non astringents don't like it? | About the Author maxzoo LARNOOK,2480,NSW 28th January 2016 9:35pm #UserID: 9405 Posts: 42 View All maxzoo's Edible Fruit Trees |
