fertilising newly planted trees

srt starts with ...
Daley's recommends not fertilising newly planted trees but I noticed Osmocote was added to the trees I had just received. Is that contradictory?

They are saying don't add fertilizer to the hole or on the newly planted tree because it has enough fertilizer to get it established without damaging or burning the delicate roots.
