crawdaddy says... Just got a small Jujube from a friend on island. Very few trees here. Lots more in Nassau where I grew up and they are delicious. Couldn't get enough when I was a kid. I will plant in ground in full sun when about 2' tall. My friends tree is now loaded down and I'll be heading over this week to sample the goodies. Over here in our islands we call it the juju only . Guess the "be" at the end was dropped long ago. I want to try lychee tree as well. There are plenty of nurseries in Florida who supply lots of tropical fruit trees.

ozzi1977 says... Hi just wondering if anyone could tell me what this fruit is? sorry about the poor picture quality. i don't know much about it but it had small brown seeds inside and had a similar smell to a cucumber, but had a soft pale green flesh like a firm pear which was very mildly sweet (almost savory)

Julie says... Charles, what do you suggest as a fertiliser? My pepino is looking healthy, but no fruit or flowers. It had a few flowers in early summer, but they came to nothing. I used to grow this years ago, in not very good soil, and it had loads of fruit. I didn't really feed it well either, as I was less aware then of plant needs. | About the Author Roleystone WA 7th February 2010 9:00pm #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

Charles cant spell says... I am not growing one at the moment and haven't actually had much luck in Perth, last time I tried. It grew well in Pemberton. Hence I would just say the same I do for just about all purposes, make sure you pH is right 6.5-7.5, apply bloodnbone (contains slow release nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus),trace elements (incl boron and selenium as there's none in our soil), Cow/Sheep/Horse manure, compost (if you have it), sulfate of potash (Potassium source as BloodnBone is low in this). I don't do to much else, avoid dynamic lifter and other high nitrogen synthetic fertilizers. Else the plant will be more rampant with less fruit. I read cross pollination can improve fruit set and maybe you are not getting many bees ? into the garden. Though they set without apparently. Might be worth trying some Epsom Salts as well as this helps with fruit set in a lot of things. | About the Author Charlesstillcantspell1 Perth Innaloo 7th February 2010 11:35pm #UserID: 2742 Posts: 411 View All Charlesstillcantspell1's Edible Fruit Trees |

Michael says... Hi Lisa, They are ready to pick when they are yellow and soft. However at that stage they will surely be stung by fruit flies. I tried picking mine earlier but they don't seem to ripen much after being picked . I don't use sprays in my garden so in the end I had to pull my pepino plants out . | About the Author Michael Wakeley 10th February 2010 1:13pm #UserID: 1746 Posts: 178 View All Michael's Edible Fruit Trees |
