Fruit tree not flowering (forum)

I purchased a 10 year old peach tree which has two varieties (grafted) in winter 2006. Although we have cared for it as directed, it has not set flower. We also purchased a ten year old mandarine tree and have had little success with that as well. I live in a coastal area of Perth but am about 2k from the ocean. What could the problem be?

It might be a good idea to go back to where you purchased them from and discuss this with them. Mature trees still need to be established if you plant them into the ground and they will take a little time to settle in. If your peach tree is happily growing this is exactly what you want it to be doing so that you can crop fruit off it when it is a happy and established plant. If it fruits before it is established this will set it back and stress it out which is detrimental in the long term. We recommend to keep all fruit off grafted trees for the first two years to allow them to settle in the ground and grow to size.
