Manfred says...
Fruiting is fundamental to plants. If it grows, the likelihood that it won't fruit is about equal to the likelihood that a child will be born without a nose. It does happen, but you wouldn't plan your breeding program on the probability.

A seedling Black Sapote could be hardier - i have 2 grafted BS - the Mossman now 5yo and 2mt tall has held one or two in first years but fruit is very slow to grow - one is nearly 2 years on about size of small lemon other better new branches are faster forming - the Bernicker is similar holding 3 from last year - both handle winter very well both in pots - nice looking plants but rather push the boundaries with Annonas and Cherimoya and maybe Rollinia - in fact after tasting a real big fruit i purchased - i find rather bland and really nothing like chocolate - a real persimmon the best in my book.
