Grafting fruit trees onto street trees

Serein starts with ...
Is it possible to graft fruit bearing branches from your fruit tree onto our suburban street trees? Does it matter what tree it is grafted to or will it not matter?

Really you should graft only on to the same species and in a few groups related species.
