1Terry starts with ... I live in Donnybrook which a seaside village. What type of grape would you suggest for this type of enviroment. I have a large wooden treless to cover. My preference would be sweet table type and also I room to plant a black one side and a white on the other. I thank you and look forward to your response. allybanana says... This old thread on grapes for Harvey Bay may help https://www.daleysfruit.com.au/forum/wine-grapes-hervey-bay/ Mildew will likely be your biggest challenge. Try Muscadine Grapes from Daleys as they are a subtropical grapes and Daleys have some great cultivars, Nobel and Achillies could give a red white combo. Some of the other hybrid grapes such a Isabella black, Pink Iona, Chamborcine and Lady Patrica may have a chance. My best advice is try a range of varieties and pick the one if any that fruit without disease. Other climber options include passion fruit or dragon fruit in that climate there are great varieties available and passion fruit are much less susceptible to birds than grapes. I cut the grapes off my pergola because of mildew and bird problems, I am in Eden though and there are lots of black birds you may be more bird free.
