heating greenhouse (forum)

Any good ideas on how to cheaply heat a garden greenhouse about 5m x 2.5m. I am putting bubble wrap over the top and draping frostcloth over plants but need just a bit extra heat for the coming winter. I am overwintering some cashew, soursop, etc I am thinking that kerosine would be too smelly and electric heater too spenno.

What you are asking has been a life long ambition of mine denise1, lol. For the past few years I've been using an old fireplace. (There's plenty of wood around here). I haven't tried fresh compost material, it takes up a lot of room, but does produce heat and lasts several weeks/months. One thing that has my attention is those evacuated tubes they use for solar water heating. I bought a couple of them to experiment with. They are super efficient and have a small bulb on the top that can be imbedded into larger containers of water that will be warmed up during the day and the heat dissapates into the hothouse during the night.
I'm in the middle of building a larger polytunnel and I'm hoping the size itself will tend to hold more heat for longer overnight. It measures approx 6m x 12m x 3.6m high, with room to double it's size. Masonary materials store heat but it dissapates well before morning.
I'm constantly on the lookout for new ideas as well.
