I'm not sure if it is the same as a kiwano or African horned melon / cucumber. It looks the same to me.

Seed can be bought from a few seed sellers, including:
Eden seeds, Boondie seeds, cornucopia seeds, diggers and fair dinkum seeds.

Kiwiana is the name given to New Zealand icons, such as wooden buzzy-bee toys, jandals, and pavlova with kiwifruit on top. The Kiwano is the african horned cucumber/ melon that is available in NZ shops in summer and is mainly used as a decorative novelty for the table.
