Mike Tr says... Inga edulis is the common one here.Inga vera is less common in Australia and the fruit are not as good. There is another perhaps I.cinnamomea that is alright that is here also and has fruit like a machete.Inga vulpina has small (7cm) fruit that are poor eating and I doubt they are in Australia.

Jason says... The only ones I've seen in Australia were the small fruited brownish green fury fruits. I forget what species that is now but it's not edulis which has huge fruit like in your picture. The one the natives eat up in high altitude Mexico is nothing like that however. Its about a 20cm pod smooth, no fur and green, looks like a normal garden bean pod and tasted MUCH better than the little broken fury ones they grown in northern NSW and southern QLD. They are everywhere on the border (the little ones) and not really worth eating. | About the Author Jason Portland 15th March 2014 11:41pm #UserID: 637 Posts: 1217 View All Jason's Edible Fruit Trees |
