Just saw these for sale at my local Bunnings...anyone know anything about them at all? They are only $12.99.

I realise it is a good price - I just want to know if anyone knows of them. In particular, I want to know how large they grow and what the fruit tastes like...and basically any other relevant info on them, as I have never heard of them before and cant find much info on the net about them either.

I did a search on daley's web site and this is what it came up with.
KAFFIR PLUM (Harpephyllum caffrum) A South African small
tree, very ornamental, branches are brittle in heavy winds. It flowers
and fruits from summer to fall. The fruit, borne in clusters are red
about an inch long, thin skin with a pleasantly sour flesh.
Ht 8mt; Frost tolerant - Med; Pollination requirred - No; Evergreen; Harvest Dec - April

Thanks Manda. I just found some interesting info on them too...apparently they can interfere with underground water pipes so I think I will give it a miss.
