Macadamia h2 - no nuts

    4 responses

I bought a Daleys h2 seedling in 2008, 8 years ago, but no sign of flowers or nuts. It is advertised as "good for marginal climates", and I assumed ok for south coast NSW. But, no flowers or fruit! Any ideas? The tree is now 3m high and looks healthy, in full sun.

The reason is possibly is because its a seedling - i have a marcotted G6 Home Beauty that I think was named this before Pinkaliscious as has pink flowers too.(see my edibles) flowering first time in it 3rd year since planting and a Dwarf Macca cutting also started last year at 3 - alot i planted 3 years ago are coming online this year like Pears apples persimmons and citrus etc - Seedlings will take longer - even apples and peaches can take 5 plus years

hi Markmelb - I get you, but it's a big 3m-tall tree now. And still no flowers! I read it can take over 7 years, so maybe I should be a bit more patient :)

What I was hinting at was to get an A16 Cutting tree - plant near other - and by the time that comes into flower your seedling may also in 3 years and cross pollinating will give you lots more nuts - A16 is a smaller CV that can handle wind quite well - cheers.
