Sam Mullapudi starts with ... Hi folks, I want to plant Mango trees in my back yard ( Taylors hill , Vic , 3037 ) .. north west corner.. where I have plenty of SUN. Just need to know .. if there were any success stories.... if yes, which Mango breed would survive to the Melbourne weather .. Sincerly appreciate your advice. Many thanks Sam Mullapudi | About the Author Sam Mullapudi Taylors hill 8th December 2014 3:30pm #UserID: 10957 Posts: 1 View All Sam Mullapudi's Edible Fruit Trees |
Linton says... Hi Sam I don't think that there are any specific Mango varieties currently available that are well-suited to growing in Melbourne. However some people do seem to succeed with them here. There is an established tree, probably a seed grown Bowen, that has fruited in Springvale over a number of years. One of the other growers here in Melbourne is having good growth with Nam Doc and it seems to be flourishing much better than the Kensington for instance. There are some cold hardy varieties being cultivated in Europe which I am trying to get seeds. Apparently they are polyembrionic and the seeds grow true to type. | About the Author Linton Springvale, Vic 15th December 2014 3:00pm #UserID: 2286 Posts: 994 View All Linton's Edible Fruit Trees |
