Mango trees

    1 responses

Ctomo starts with ...
Can anyone help diagnose the problem I have with my mango tree? I have two within a couple of metres of each other but only one has this problem, shown in the photos. It did fruit this year but a lot less then my other tree which looks perfect. There is some white stuff on a lot of the leaves. And as seen in the photo the bark is split at the base of the tree.
Thanks for any help!

I can't say that I know what the problem is with the tree however it does appear as though it's fungus related. If it were mine I would be inclined to give the whole tree, branches, trunk and all leaves, top and bottom with a copper-based fungicide making sure that I got into every nook and cranny of the damaged bark on the trunk with a brush. I would be interested to see what the base of the trunk looks like where it emerges from the soil as the problem may be something like collar rot.

I hope this helps
