Mice in the garden (forum)

Now that we are keeping our cat inside during the day as well nowa days, mainly to keep our Blue Tongues that are in the yard, I have noticed mice in the compost.
Can they co-habit the yard? or
Will they become a problem.
I know they will eat some pests but is it viable?
Cheers
Shaun

Don't worry. Things will balance out.
If the conditions are too favourable for the mice you'll end up with more of them in a short space of time. If mice are abundant, they will then attract Frogmouths, snakes, etc and eventually be under control. But the best thing you can do is turn your compost often so the mice don't get too comfortable.

I have been getting mice in my vegie patch, since I planted it, late last year and also got birds, which I keep outside. Very annoying but I dont like cats. I get neighbourhood cats in my yard, whcih are only interested in terrorising my birds, when it would be nice if they caught some mice LOL

Neigbour cats or feral cats visit my garden every night and they do bussiness there too. Could some one give me some advice on how to deter them from going to my garden please.
Any cheap, organic way to make something to deter them is appreciated

Many thanks

Julie

You too Shaunie. By the way, I caved in and bought some bait for the mice today. Hope it works.
