Hi Phil ,I enjoy the diff texture and flavour of the Mabolo in the backyard, the tree is 17 or 18 yrs old now ,still only 2.5m high and wide ,so only a small tree but loads up every year with seedless fruit ,they fill the kitchen up with very strong perfume, very fragrant fruit.

Looks great David. my baby Kwan flowered so heavily it broke in half! What does the mabolo taste like? I am going to grow one, but have not yet tasted them. They look like a flat peach growing on a black sapote tree.

Thanks David. I won't be able to make the next meeting. Wife is working shift, so I'm on baby duties. Thanks for the offer though.

No worries BJ, been there done that and now doing it again with a nearly 3 yr old grandchild (how time flies). Have some seedlings growing so in the near future will try to graft some on, the cultivar i have is Manilla red seedless.Slow growing down here but very productive and handles reasonable amout of cold .

hi David,
Would you have more than one tree, or do you have a female with male branches grafted on it ?

No just the one tree ,the flowers are perfect in that they contain both male and female parts, flowers 3 or 4 times a year, often stimulated by rainfall, very productive ,when in full flower the aroma is intoxicatingly sweet.

David, If you do get a few grafted, I'd love to buy, trade, beg, barter or steal one! A productive small seedless tree that fruits in the middle of winter would be a very welcome addition to the backyard team! I've got a few seedlings going slowly here, let me know if you want a few more for graftig practice?
