Nectarine Tree

When I bought the nectarine tree in 2015 it looked like there was one tree, but over this summer it looks like there are 4 trees. There are 4 trunks coming out of the ground. Will this complicate the fruit growth and is it possible that there are actually 4 different trees or are these just shoots from the original tree?

Must have been a grafted tree, extra trunks are from the rootstock.
If it's not too late, you should remove them, if they haven't killed the grafted one already.
