Hi ,
I just move to Blackwood in SA, would like some advices for fruit trees which grow well in the area.

I think stone fruits would grow here but wonder about sub tropical like Mango, lychee and Longan.

Have anyone grown them?

I live in Cowandilla. You will have an issue with frost.Best place to plant would be in front yard near bitumen road.In colder months the road heats cold night air after sun goes down, minimising time for frost damage and keeps air temps up in front yard. Most subtropicals love better than cold air at night.Position plants to avoid if possible late afternoon sun in summer 1 pm onwards otherwise use shadecloth around plant to stop scorching.I am growing a mango R2E2 ok but most people grow Bowen/Kensington Pride. As for the Lychee/Longan best to ring Perrys Fruit and Nut nursery at Mc laren Vale gets some advice on varieties and soil mixes from them.I dug 1x1m x 450mm deep hole, removed all that soil and replaced it with Organic potting mix with 20% more Washed Filling sand blended in(more drainage and speed up drying of soil.( available at Jeffries garden soils) Thru it I also added some chicken or cow manure Plant on raised mound about 100-150 above surrounding ground.I watered all the trees in at the start with Nutrilife Platform (fungal innoculant)see Biotech Organics at Virginia.Very good product.
1 tablespoon per 9L watering can you will need 3 watering cans per tree.Water that in around rootball as you backfill potting mix.No more watering required until you water next time.
