haolegurl starts with ... my pandanus or hala tree is spreading .From 1 little plant it is now over 10 ft high and spread to about 20 feet around. It is 4-5 years old.Can anyone tell me how long before it will have a trunk with those wonderful roots? Trikus says... There are 100's of different Pandans .. post a pic of yours . Ideally you should remove all suckers and just get one to grow tall .. I have done that with this Pandanus veitchii ... had it in a pot , and removed the pot after the stilts grew into the ground .. This smooth leaf sanderi has spread a lot and needs a lot of hacking back to get it to grow a good trunk
