We bought several red papaya trees as we love the flavour of the red fleshed fruit. The first fruiting produced red papayas but every fruiting since has produced the orange fleshed papaya. Is this unusual?

The reds are really orange fleshed and get paler in cool weather.Bisex plants have redder flesh most of the time and certainly within varieties.SEQ is cooler than reds like to develop full flavour and colour.
