Hi, I live in Adelaide, and I have had 3,failed attempts at growing Passionfruit. I have bought them as seedlings, as I have had problems before with the graft dying.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hey Sarah, planting time is essential here, if you plant them during winter or when it's cold you can basically be assured they will die (one of mine did when I did this), I planted my current banana passionfruit during Spring and it's going very strong, has grown so much over spring/summer alone and is starting to flower, it hasn't even been 1 year yet either.

Preparing the soil with some good quality soil, compost etc will help too, we live fairly close so I doubt it's much colder where you are either.

Another thing is, what variety are you trying to grow? This would help with a proper answer. If it's too tropical it may just not grow well here unless you get it advanced before the cold sets in.

there is a type of the purple fruited species that has dull yellow colour and smaller than the purple ones. It seems to be hardier and lives longer. It will often be ripe while still part green so there is also reduced possibility of being stolen.

Maybe you put too much fertilizer. They are supposed to get aged or rotted manure from cows or chicken. Fresh manures are too rich, although some success can be had from fresh human manure as it is not too strong. It is buried under the plant at the time of planting or just bury it a little ways from the stem. Dont do it if you may have parasites.
