AndyWatts starts with ... I bought 2 pawpaws from you just before Christmas. They've been growing really really well. Up until about a week ago. They'd each shown their first fruit set about 10 days ago. Now: one looks as though it has bunchy-top or some other problem in its crown. Stunted yellow new growth. And the plant has declined in vigour quite noticeably. Photos attached. The 2 are about 2 metres apart. Up to last week they were each identical height at about 1.2 metres tall. Now the good one is about 30cm higher than the sick one. I'm happy to take the sick one out but wonder if you can tell me what the problem is?

MIke T1 says... There are so many Crambidae moth caterpillars that are borers that these little tent shaped moths are hard to identify. This is unlikely to be a major food of the one messing you around and hopefully it won't keep on happening.Stem boring moths of all sorts are hard to control physically or chemically unless systemic are used on annuals like corn. | About the Author MIke T1 cairns 6th March 2015 7:52pm #UserID: 10744 Posts: 250 View All MIke T1's Edible Fruit Trees |
