Is the shoshoni pecan or any other pecan viable on Magnetic Island Far North Queensland? I would love to grow this as it's my favourite nut plus it would allow me to have an organic supply. Regards
Chrissie

Hi Chrissie, This would not be an ideal climate for a pecan, they prefer a site on deep sandy loam river flats with some winter chill. You could try them but we cannot guarantee you success.

Responses waited to be checked doesn't make for ease of conversation.
Pecans and small groves of them are in North queensland. These are mostly on the basalt derived soils over 750m altitude on the Atherton Tablelands.
