Heidij starts with ... My persimmon tree is at least 7 years old, I am unsure of the variety, but it has only produced tiny fruit about the size of grapes. It is loaded with fruit. What do I need to do to grow larger fruit? I thought I had been sold an unedible ornamental, but the nursery told me there is no such thing. | About the Author Heidij Albury 8th February 2016 12:49pm #UserID: 13272 Posts: 1 View All Heidij's Edible Fruit Trees |

jakfruit etiquette says... There are small fruited types, but grape size sounds a bit small. Check that its grafted, any chance its just the rootstock fruiting ? The graft may have died or failed. If grafted you should see a change in the bark, or a line near the bottom of the trunk. Otherwise are the fruit being pollinated, ie any seeds at all. Persimmon orchards usually have some pollinator trees to get better fruit set. You may need a pollinator branch or tree. Some out of sync/season fruit can be small and seedless, ie the very late set last non pollinated fruit. Sounds like you have a tree full of those or rootstock fruit ?? These are sometimes used as rootstock https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date-plum | About the Author jakfruit etiquette vic 12th February 2016 2:54am #UserID: 5133 Posts: 915 View All jakfruit etiquette's Edible Fruit Trees |
