KW says... Hi Noahs, Trust it isn't flooding yet? :) I notice Dalton is near Stanford (where I know the Car train starts to head north to Norfolk VA, Near Washington DC). I landed at Orlando in 2011 visiting friends in Ocala. ( At the time in 2011 when the famous Murder trial was on). The question is.. .. Do you get frosts.. or is your climate like mine is, in Coastal Newcastle in New South Wales, in Australia. It is named like that because the explorer 'Jimmy' Cook in 1778 (When you guys were having a a big punch-up with the 'Poms' (- the English) in the War of Independence) Cook said it looked a bit like the nice countryside of Wales -just after he passed north after Sydney where it rains cats and dogs. More to the Point - Because I Never get Frosts and get only 4 fogs a year which lift before 11a. (like the Californian 'Marine Layers' (- At least we call them Fogs..:) ) I have had to give away My almond and Stella Cherry trees as well as all my plum trees because they never go into or come out of Dormancy (because of the lack of Chill factor). Admittedly I have 2 apple trees and 2 Pear Trees and a Quince in the South side of a north fence to keep the root area cool (our sun is in the North sky in the Middle of the day). There have only been one or two Fruits on the quince and apple, although I am just now spending time espaliering and feeding those trees. I don't yet know if my vclimate is too warm for tthem, and the pomegranate ftree, which has flowered but not borne fruit. I am planting up my garden with things like Lychee , Jackfruit, Macadamia, and will transplant my Mango tree soon. I have two bunches of Bananas on those trees filling out, and about 30 Pink Papaya filling out. My Monsteria Deliciosa (fruit salad plants) are bearing fruit as well, and I have had some fruit already. So you can see I am thinking away from Cool temperate plants. My tropical and temperate peaches bear well, and the Apricot Tree is yet to bear fruit. I will get another local Lime Aurantifolia( a Cross - Key and Persian Lime) To Grow as well as a Blood Orange Washington Navel.. as the others died while I was away during some time in summer.
